Benassal is a small municipality in the Alt Maestrat region, in the northern interior of the province of Castellón, with numerous attractions for its resources of history, culture, tradition, nature, sport and gastronomy. It has the Q for quality in its Tourist Office, and the recognition as a Tourist Municipality of the Valencian Community.

Although the area has been inhabited since prehistoric times, Benassal, as a town, was founded in the thirteenth century after the conquest by the troops of Blasco de Alagón under the orders of Jaime I, later passing into the hands of the Templars and later to the Masters of the Order of Montesa. It went through numerous wars and during the Spanish Civil War it was bombed by the Condor Legion of the German army which damaged much of its heritage.

Nowadays Benassal is a charming town that offers quality of life every day of the year. It offers to experience history in its medieval buildings and alleys, culture and traditions in its museums and unique festivals, offers open spaces and natural environments, such as the Municipal Natural Park of the Rivet forest, routes for hiking, cycling or simply letting yourself be enveloped by nature.
